The Abia State Government has explained in detail why the property located at No. 36 Ojike Lane, Umuahia-a facility linked to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. According to a statement signed by Ctz. Njoku Ukoha, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Alex Otti, the unsealing was ordered immediately after Benjamin Kalu personally brought the issue to the Governor's attention. The government insisted that the enforcement operation that affected the facility was not targeted at Kalu, nor politically inspired, but part of a statewide revenue and property compliance drive.
The government revealed that the sealing of No. 36 Ojike Lane was executed by the Harmonised Task Force as part of a wider enforcement of court orders affecting properties that have not met statutory land obligations.

The statement also noted that while the state will continue strict and uncompromised enforcement of land laws, sensitive cases involving public figures will now receive closer oversight to avoid misinterpretation and political heating.
Governor Otti has issued fresh instructions to the Harmonised Task Force, warning against compromise and emphasizing transparency in the ongoing enforcement of land-related obligations.
The state further reminded the public that churches, hospitals and schools remain exempt from sealing, though enforcement continues through passive measures.
