The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has issued a stinging rebuke to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing them of prioritizing their 2027 re-election campaign over the dire national crises threatening to tear Nigeria apart.

In a fiery statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the ACF condemned the APC-led Federal Government's obsession with early politicking, defections, and power grabs while citizens are left to grapple with insecurity, hunger, and hopelessness - particularly in the North.

"Rather than addressing existential threats like terrorism, poverty, and inflation, the APC has doubled down on political maneuvering aimed at securing a second term for President Tinubu,ÔÇØ the Forum said.

The ACF decried what it called "reckless public spending and delusional detachment" by federal officials. They cited the outrageous insertion in the proposed 2025 federal budget-a provision for streetlights costing a staggering 260 million each, which they described as "crassly reckless and surreal.

Shockingly, no official denial has been issued regarding the insertion, which ACF sees as further proof that Nigeria's political elite are dangerously out of touch with the suffering masses.

"Public policy responses to insecurity are not only ineffective but insultingly blind to the despair of ordinary citizens. Governors on the ground are crying out, while federal security officials continue to make hollow claims,ÔÇØ the statement read.

The forum further warned that the current leadership's misplaced priorities are fuelling mass disillusionment, despair, and a dangerous sense of abandonment. Despite the hardship, the ACF praised Nigerians' resilience, describing it as "a testament that must not be taken for granted.ÔÇØ

Even as Nigerians marked Eid-el-Kabir, ACF noted that many celebrated in the shadow of hardship, as prices of food, transport, and essential goods soar beyond affordability.

The Forum concluded by urging political leaders at all levels to return to the core principles of good governance, accountability, and people-first leadership if the nation is to pull back from the brink.
