Why We Declared Lecture Free Day In Universities - ASUU Chairman Reveals | READ DETAILS
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), declared Monday, February 7, 2022 as a lecture free day in some of the universities in Nigeria.

This is coming amid warnings of looming strike action in higher institutions of learning under the Union owing to non payment of earned allowances by the Federal Government, IPPIS payment system, among others.

Speaking to journalists on the development, the National President, ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osedeke said the lecture-free day was declared in some branches of the Union to enable its members meet and dialogue on the strike action.

He said, "We declared Monday a lecture-free day in some of our branches because we are going to be having meetings in those places.
"After the meeting, we are going to interact with the public and the students to tell them what is ongoing and what they should expect if the issues are not properly handled by the Federal GovernmentÔÇØ Osodeke said.
