2023: INEC Reacts To Backdating Documents To Accomodate Lawan, Akpabio |Read Details
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reacted to reports that it doctored and backdated documents to accommodate the nominations of Ahmed Lawan and Godswill Akpabio as senatorial candidates for the general elections come 2023.

INEC which on Tuesday denied the reports stated that it is yet to recognize the duo as senatorial candidates.

Recall that the current Senate President, Lawan and Akpabio had contested for the presidential primaries which Bola Tinubu won.

However, INEC in a statement signed by its National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, said the matter is still in court.

"The Forms of the two personalities in question were not published by the Commission,ÔÇØ INEC said.

"The decision of the Commission triggered legal action which are still ongoing.

"It therefore defies logic and common sense to go around and submit doctored documents purportedly recognizing the duo as candidates when the matter is clearly sub-judice.ÔÇØ
