2027: Senator Natasha backs real time electronic transmission of electoral results

Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan had thrown her weight behind the call for compulsory real-time electronic transmission of election results.

DAILY POST reports that the Senate on Wednesday turned down a proposed change to Clause 60, Subsection 3, of the Electoral Amendment Bill that aimed to compel the electronic transmission of election results.

Their decision has sparked concerns across Nigeria, with some netizens accusing the lawmakers of plotting to rig the 2027 election.

Amid the backlash, the Kogi Central Senator in a post on her Facebook page on Thursday said she supports the now rejected bill.

According to her, turning down the proposed change to the electoral law may not go well with the country's democracy.

She wrote, "I, Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan supports the real-time Electronic Transmission of results. Failure of such stealth is a lethal assault on Nigeria's democracy.ÔÇØ
