Dr. Maduka, adduced this on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 while featuring on AFTelevision programme, 'POLEMICS' with Mr Shaft, on the topic; "Abia State In Perspectives: 30 Years Of Existence".
Responding on if Abia should be tagged a failed state as a result of leadership and governance, he said;

Abia state just like any other state created by fierce decree, is an illegitimate child. Abia state has never being created by a normal constitutional activity so when you look at it from that perspective, you find out that what is happening is a fundamental issue.

Who is Abia state? Abia state is the people not the name. So when you talk about Abia state, you talk about the people. Abia state cannot be separated from the people and who are the people? two basic people that we are looking at; we are looking at the leadership and the people.
So who brought about whatever you called a failed state? Its the people. In what context? Its the people that give birth to the leadership. They can't separate the people from leadership and governance, so whatever you sow, is what you will reap.
It's a very sad story to talk about Abia without talking about the people. People made it a failed state not leadership.

Further in his response, Dr Maduka, noted that the State which started in 1991, started on a wrong footage and the people have refused to change the narrative.
"......the leadership we got in 1991 started on a wrong footage even as all of us we are aware of it, the same person comes for second tenure, and we still plunge on it and we keep shouting.
.....Abia state is just like someone who is being raped and in that raping spree, you are shouting but meanwhile you are opening your legs, after the raping, the same person comes back again to your house and says; I want to rape you again, and you start shouting and he rapes you again.
Abia state has been in that recycling governance system; that is being propelled by the people.
If the people can understand that they have the right to ask questions about how they are being governed, then we won't be talking about a failed state. Failed state is not a vacuum. Failed state is because the people allowed it to be a failed state.

He regretted that most of the great men in the state have resolved to isolate themselves without coming out to talk about the way forward for the state.
Maduka further advised the people to always appreciate the government whenever they do something for them in their community.
