Abia APC Is Fully Intact, Not Quarreling - Donatus Nwankpa

The chairman said this on Thursday, August 4, at the party secretariat situated at 38 Azikiwe road, Umuahia, during a press conference convened to address the rising issues following the last congress election held in the state on Saturday, July 31.

Nwankpa who noted that there is no cause for alarm in the party, said;

"Only one governor will be in Abia. Only one person will fly the flag of APC in Abia state. For this there is no cause for alarm. All we want, let due process be followed.

Recall that confusion and conflict followed the Saturday ward congress of the party as the Hon. Sunny Goli led committee sent by APC National Working Committee (NWC) to oversee the ward congress in Abia State, did not meet the Hon. Donatus Nwankpa's State Working Committee (SWC), instead they went ahead to recognize the Ikechi Emenike's faction of the party.

Reacting to this at the press conference, Nwankpa said;

A committee was said to have been sent to Abia and I cannot address the man who claims to be the chairman as honourable because he does not behave in any manner that represents that institution of the legislator where I come from. If you want to manoeuvre us no problem, come in here first, identify with us, we will all work together.

"APC Abia State is intact and we did our congress in accordance with laid down procedures, laid down regulations, laid down guidelines because the guidelines is clear- the committee from Abuja, ought to work with the state working committee led by Honoraboe chief Donatus Nwankpa.ÔÇØ

He further noted that;

"Whoever wins the primary when the time comes, nobody is biased about it; I am not running for the state chairman of Abia for now, it is not in my agenda; for now, it is not part of why we are battling so that nobody will take it that Nwankpa wants to sit tight to power. Power is given by two people; God and the people, your own is to volunteer.

For me, this moment is let's build together, some of you have not asked yourself, why this reoccurring decimal any time there is congress, any time there is primary, someone will be in the cooler, in the deep freezer, when these things come up the person will now become a combusting instrument.

Nwankpa reiterated that;

"There is no cause for alarm in Abia APC. The party is fully intact and the rebellious conduct of one person cannot mean faction.ÔÇØ

Stating what the party stands for, he referred to the case of a prodigal son whose absence did not deter the existence of his rich father but came back to plead .

Reacting further to the charade that ensued during the ward congress, he said;

"We have gathered information that the National chairman, the president whom they are dropping his name, the Attorney General of the Federation whom they are dropping their names, are not involved in this charade. Its just that some people are trying to manipulate the vulnerability of our institution as a result of the society where a lot of people live in fear.

"We are not quarreling over the people coming in here, whoever wins; what we are saying let due process be followed.ÔÇØ

He advised the people not to worry as some have passed through the stormy road of passing election from opposition, adding that "There are people who will continue to be aspirants foreverÔÇØ.

He maintained that the national secretariat, AGF, and Senator Ken Nnamani are not involved in the charade as they are aware of the implications as forms were duly sold and specific numbers were assigned to the state. He noted that it could be an office under current maneuvering

" the people came here from the secretariat and the forms that were sold, they took record of it and handed over the records and exhausted forms to the state. Those people that bought forms were duly screened. From all our investigations, we know that a mischief happened somewhere; conspiracy between the people that were sent and the people who were here to manipulate them. It is unfortunate but the matter is being resolved and we have implicit confidence that the national chairman, the caretaker national chairman, his Excellency Mai Mala Buni, will be able to resolve this matter. We have implicit confidence that the national caretaker and extraordinary convention committee have every instrument that our conflict resolution mechanism will be able to resolve this matterÔÇØ

The party kept the inauguration of the congress chairman because of a court order served. Nwankpa said they are still waiting for directives.

Reacting to one Harbour's alleged claim to the chairmanship, Nwankpa who questioned the process that made him a chairman, added;

" what Harbour is doing is gorilla ambush he has not come out as a conventional and a combatant fighter to officially sign any document to that effect as the state chairman. He is only opening his bucal cavity over the media. We want him to sign a document as a state chairman. When he does that, then the law will take its cause on him.ÔÇØ

On if Harbour is a member of the APC, it was revealed that Harbour has now been suspended by his zonal ward (Arochukwu ward 3) for impersonation, falsehood and attempted coup to the ward chairman

The party could not inaugurate winners of the last ward congress election because of a court order served to the faction by some aggrieved members.
