Abia: I became Speaker to contribute my quota, not to impeach Ikpeazu

The Speaker Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji has revealed that his position is not for the purpose of impeachment plot against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as being insinuated in some quarters, saying that those making such insinuations are the real enemy of government.

The Speaker who was speaking in an elaborate interview with newsmen recently, explained that in 2015, he contested election just to be a member of the Assembly, but that the insinuation was that he was planning to work against the Governor of the State.

He stated that while he was the House Majority Leader for four years, he never moved any motion for the removal of anybody or against the Governor, pointing out that only malicious people will always manufacture malicious propaganda.

Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji hinted that he only wants the people to know him for who he is as against the impression of him by the as that of an illiterate.

He stated that during the 6th Assembly in the House, there was pressures from all corner for him to succeed Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike who was removed as Speaker, stressing that he resisted it because he had announced it to the public that he never wanted the position at that time.

He thanked God for blessing him and his family, saying that any attempt to aspire for the position of Governor would be a vaulting ambition.

He explained that his future political ambition will depend on God and people of his constituency to decide and called on political propagandas in the State to desist from it.
