Abia's Creative Power on Global Display as Nuel Geoffrey Breaks World Record - Commissioner Matthew Ekuruibe Unveils More Cultural Achievements

... Abia State is once again making headlines for all the right reasons-this time for a record-breaking feat that showcases the immense creative potential of its young talents.

In an official statement released by the Honourable Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Mr. Matthew Ekuruibe, the state celebrated one of its own, Mr. Nuel Geoffrey, who recently painted 275 faces in just one hour, breaking the previous Guinness World Record of 217. While official confirmation from the Guinness World Records team is pending, the attempt has already sparked excitement across the creative community, both within and beyond Abia State.

"This remarkable feat by Mr. Geoffrey not only demonstrates his exceptional artistic skill and speed but also reflects the deep reservoir of talent that exists within our state,ÔÇØ Commissioner Ekuruibe said. "Under the dynamic leadership of Governor Alex Otti, OFR, Abia has become a thriving hub for creativity, innovation, and excellence in the arts.ÔÇØ

He further noted that this aligns with the government's broader vision to develop the creative sector as a major pillar of economic and cultural transformation. One of such initiatives is the "Beyond Creativity Talent HuntÔÇØ-a newly launched programme by the ministry aimed at discovering, promoting, and empowering gifted individuals across the state.

But that's not all. The Commissioner also highlighted other ongoing projects under the administration, including:

The compilation of an annual cultural compendium that lists Abia's major cultural festivals, heritage sites, licensed hotels, and tourist hotspots. This project will serve as a reference calendar for tourists, residents, and investors interested in exploring Abia's rich cultural landscape.

Expansion of healthcare access through the Project Ekwueme initiative, which has made 17 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) fully operational across the state, with several more nearing completion.

Ongoing healthcare recruitment drive which has attracted over 1,600 applications from medical professionals including nurses, pharmacists, lab scientists, dental officers, and more. The application portal remains open until August 9, 2025, and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

According to Commissioner Ekuruibe, these efforts underscore the Otti-led administration's unwavering commitment to inclusive governance and the harnessing of human capital.
