The federal government has been accused of plans to use the military to rig the November 6 Anambra governorship election for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide made the allegation in a statement by its Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

The group said its submission is based on previous experiences including Operation Python Dance in which the federal might was used to intimidate other political parties and opposition supporters at the polls.

All Facts News recalls the Nigerian Army has launched an exercise code-named 'Golden Dawn' in Anambra State targeted at flushing out criminal elements in the southeast state.

The exercise, which will be a joint operation with other security agencies was launched on Monday at Igbariam, Anambra East Local Government Area by the Commander 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Col. Abdulkarim Usman.

The exercise according to Army authorities will target members of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB); the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the Eastern Security Network (ESN), kidnappers, gunmen, and other criminal elements who have recently turned Anambra State into a troubled zone.

Isiguzoro however cautioned the military not to allow themselves to become tools in the hands of the politicians by maintaining professionalism and sticking to their terms of engagement.

He also called on members of the public, particularly the voting population to ensure their votes count during the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State.

"Ndigbo are foreseeing uncertainties and tensions as if there are hidden agenda attached to the newly formed Operations Golden Dawn," the statement said.

"The military shouldn't allow politicians to drag them into Anambra November 6th governorship elections.

"There are innuendoes that APC had craftily designed scripts for the Anambra elections including the use of the military to edge out PDP and APGA.
