The political conversation ahead of the 2027 general election took an interesting turn after Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, declared that his principal deserves nothing less than a Nobel Prize for his repeated quest to lead Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV's Daily Politics, Ibe dismissed critics who accuse Atiku of "contesting too many times.ÔÇØ He clarified that contrary to widespread belief, the PDP stalwart has only been on the presidential ballot three times - in 2007 under the Action Congress (AC), 2019 under the PDP, and 2023 under the PDP.

However, when pressed with the argument that Atiku had been an aspirant on multiple other occasions (including 2011 and 2015), Ibe responded:

"Atiku Abubakar should get a Nobel Prize for that. The man feels obligated to Nigeria because the country has given him so much.ÔÇØ

According to Ibe, Atiku's political resilience comes from a deep sense of duty. He recounted how Atiku rose from humble beginnings, gained access to education, and built a thriving career in the Nigeria Customs Service before venturing into business.

He reminded Nigerians that Atiku had become a billionaire businessman before becoming Vice President in 1999, setting up a major oil and gas logistics company and investing heavily in education and infrastructure.

Significantly, Ibe revealed that Atiku personally purchased the iconic Wadata Plaza in Abuja, which today serves as the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) - proof of his commitment and financial sacrifice for Nigerian democracy.

Ibe argued that history should judge Atiku not merely by how many times he has sought the presidency, but by his resilience, sacrifice, and contributions to Nigeria's democratic development.
