Excitement Builds as Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Akwa Ibom Chapter Announces First-Ever Igbo Unity Day Celebration

History is about to be made in Akwa Ibom State as Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide (Akwa Ibom Chapter) prepares to host its first-ever Igbo Unity Day celebration on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Ibom Hall Ground, Uyo, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The event, themed around unity, cultural heritage, and progressive integration, is being organized under the leadership of Hon. Kayceey Chidiadi, President of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Akwa Ibom State Chapter, who described it as "a landmark moment in the history of Igbos residing in Akwa Ibom State.ÔÇØ

Speaking ahead of the event, Hon. Chidiadi explained that for many years, Igbos living in Akwa Ibom were divided along factional lines, which weakened collective progress. However, through his leadership and the support of respected Igbo elders and stakeholders, unity has finally been restored - and the Igbo Unity Day celebration is meant to solidify that unity and ensure that Igbos in Akwa Ibom now speak with one voice.

"This event is not just a gathering; it's a statement of strength and brotherhood,ÔÇØ Hon. Chidiadi said. "After years of disunity, we are coming together to celebrate who we are as a people and to chart a new course for Igbos in Akwa Ibom State.ÔÇØ

It will also serve as a platform to discuss the future prospects and political inclusion of Igbos in the state.

Hon. Chidiadi, who hails from Abia State, holds a historic place as the first President of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo in Akwa Ibom from Abia extraction in over 38 years. He extended a warm invitation to Governor Alex Chioma Otti of Abia State and other notable Igbo leaders to attend the event.

"We are calling on Governor Otti to please find it important to join us,ÔÇØ he appealed. "His presence will not only add colour to this historic event but also boost the morale of Igbos in Akwa Ibom who see him as a symbol of leadership and hope.ÔÇØ
