How Late Ezinne Elizabeth Madukwe's Children Turned Her Memorial Into a Celebration of Love, Legacy and Compassion

It is often said that the best way to be remembered is to live well, love deeply and leave a legacy that speaks long after one's exit. For the family of Late Chief J. N. Madukwe, that statement came alive on Sunday, 30th November 2025, as they celebrated the life and memory of their beloved mother, Late Mrs. Ezinne Elizabeth Madukwe, who lived from 1953-2021.

What began as a memorial service quickly transformed into a colourful carnival of love, emotions, songs, laughter and heartfelt tributes.

The memorial activities commenced on the night of November 29th, with friends, neighbours and relatives of the Madukwe family trooping in from different parts of the country to honour the late matriarch. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with music, reflections, and shared moments that stretched deep into the night as people celebrated the life of a woman many described as "impeccable and unforgettable.ÔÇØ

By the next morning, all roads led to The Christ Methodist Church, Amaba, Isuikwuato, where the memorial thanksgiving service was held. The church community gave glowing testimonies about Mama Elizabeth's unwavering commitment to God, her generosity to many families, and her passion for the work of God.

The event attracted notable personalities including the Member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency, Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, and the former Executive Chairman of Isuikwuato LGA, Hon. Chima Agbaeze, alongside many distinguished friends and associates.

In honour of Mama Elizabeth's legacy of charity, friends and well-wishers of the Madukwe family raised over 5 million to support the church's infrastructure development. The family also donated chairs as part of their thanksgiving gesture.

Speaking during the event, Mrs. Sandra Uzoamaka Okoro, daughter of the late Ezinne Elizabeth, expressed deep gratitude that the family could once again gather to honour their mother's memory. She described Mama as a woman who lived a good, impactful life, one that must be celebrated every year.

Her husband, ACP Ikechukwu Okoro, added colour to the event and was widely described as one of the major energies behind the carnival-like memorial gathering.

The 2025 memorial celebration became a moment of reflection, unity and thanksgiving, a powerful reminder that though Mama Elizabeth may have passed on, her values, love and legacy continue to shine through her children, family and community.
