How SS3 Student Allegedly Drowned In Delta School, Police Arrest Principal

An SS3 student have allegedly drowned in a borrow pit in his school, Technical College, Ogor, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The student from the Mechanical Department of the technical school identified as ThankGod Emumirigwe, allegedly drowned on Friday, October 15, while bathing in the pit after manual labour.

According to report, "The students of the school were doing labour and when they finished working at about 11:am, some of them went to the borrow pit to freshen up.

"As they were bathing, it was discovered that the boy was drowning and some of the students who were with him brought him out.

The students were said to have informed the school principal of the incident but he asked them to fetch the labour master who happened not to be in the school premises at the time.

The principal allegedly used his phone to video the students.

"The labour master was not around at the time of the incident and the principal resorted to videoing the students, probably thinking that they were pretending" a source said.

Afterwards, they got a tricycle to take Emumirigwe to the hospital, but he died on the way.

Aggrieved students of the college staged a protest, vandalizing a block housing the principal's office.

Meanwhile, police personnel attached to the Ughelli Area command have arrested the principal of the college.
