Former Senator Shehu Sani has warned Northern leaders that their plans to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections could destabilize Nigeria, urging them to support the current administration for the sake of national unity.

Former Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central, has issued a stern warning to Northern leaders, advising them to abandon their plans to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential elections. Sani, speaking in an interview with Arise Television, highlighted that such a move could threaten the unity and stability of Nigeria.

Sani expressed his concerns about the potential political maneuvers aimed at undermining Tinubu's administration. He urged Northern leaders to focus on supporting the policies and programs of the current government that benefit the Northern region, rather than seeking to reclaim political power prematurely.

"There is evidence of rallying of forces, regrouping of political forces from the North, trying to use former President Buhari as a rallying point to evict the government of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu," Sani stated. He warned that these actions could portray the Tinubu administration as one that undermines the North, potentially leading to significant national discord.

Sani emphasized the importance of prioritizing the unity and peace of the country over individual political ambitions. He highlighted that during Buhari's eight-year tenure, no serious Southern opposition sought to unseat him, suggesting that the North should show similar restraint and consider the broader implications for national unity.

"What will happen if Southern politicians decide to also unite and make a stand? There will be no Nigeria," Sani cautioned. He urged Northern leaders to sacrifice their personal ambitions for the 2027 elections and support the Tinubu administration to ensure a stable and united Nigeria.
