Ned Nwoko Reveals Why He May Dump PDP for APC | READ DETAILS

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, has hinted at his imminent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The move, according to his Director of Communications, Gloria Okolugbo, stems from alleged frustrations and marginalization under Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's administration and the PDP leadership.

Speaking on Arise TV, Okolugbo disclosed that Nwoko has already informed stakeholders, supporters, and constituents of his decision to leave the PDP, citing a lack of support to fulfill his campaign promises to Delta North.

Okolugbo revealed that Governor Oborevwori and the PDP failed to support critical projects, including the Okpai Independent Power Project (IPP) aimed at providing electricity to 60 communities in Delta North and the Ogwashi-Uku Dam intended to supply water to the region.

"Senator Nwoko came prepared to serve and deliver dividends of good governance to the Anioma people but has been frustrated by the PDP, even as the party's only senator in Delta State,ÔÇØ she said.

She further accused the PDP of lacking internal democracy, noting that its inability to address factionalization and grievances pushed Nwoko to consider his defection.

Nwoko's departure will complete the APC's dominance in Delta State, with all three senators now aligned with the ruling party. Okolugbo highlighted the significant implications for the PDP in Delta, describing the defection as a "potential political earthquakeÔÇØ that could weaken the party's influence in the state.

"What I can tell you is that today, Senator Ned Nwoko held a consultative meeting with his constituents to inform them of his decision to defect to the APC,ÔÇØ Okolugbo said.

She also emphasized Ned Nwoko's commitment to delivering on his promises, stating, "Representative democracy is about balancing power, ensuring transparency, and being accountable to the people. The PDP's failure to address these principles has left the Anioma people at a disadvantage.ÔÇØ

The defection highlights broader challenges within the PDP, including internal divisions and dissatisfaction among key stakeholders. With Nwoko set to officially announce his switch to the APC, Delta PDP faces a steep uphill battle to regain its footing in the state.
