Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, a medical doctor with postgraduate qualifications from prestigious institutions including Harvard University, was nominated by Governor Monday Okpebholo, a close ally of Adams. Appearing on Channels Television's Politics Today, Adams Oshiomhole strongly defended his son's appointment, emphasizing Cyril's qualifications and experience in public health.

"He is not having it because he is Oshiomhole; I will say he is having it in spite of being Oshiomhole,ÔÇØ the former governor stated.

Adams acknowledged that he initially expressed concerns over the appointment, fearing that it might attract public criticism. "I expressed those concerns to the governor that people might say this and that,ÔÇØ he admitted. However, he justified Cyril's selection by highlighting his extensive academic credentials and professional competence.

"When I was in Edo, I stopped him when he wanted to go for the House of Reps. I said no and supported another guy,ÔÇØ he explained.
