Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, reveals that his 2023 election defeat stemmed from ignoring God's guidance. He confirms that divine intervention has instructed him not to contest in 2027, as he reflects on his political journey.

Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has revealed that his failure to seek divine guidance was the key reason he lost his senatorial bid in the 2023 elections. He made this admission during a courtesy visit by the G-14 elders of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Makurdi, Benue State, where he disclosed that God had warned him not to contest the election, but he ignored the divine instruction.

According to Ortom, he was pressured by his people who bought the senatorial nomination forms for him, and in the heat of the moment, he accepted the offer without consulting God. Reflecting on the defeat, He said, "I knew why I lost the election in 2023. I didn't consult God. My people purchased the forms for me, and I accepted them without seeking divine direction."

Furthermore, the former governor confirmed that God has told him not to participate in any future elections, including the 2027 race. "God has revealed everything to me. He has asked me to wait for him," He added, emphasizing his intent to respect God's wish moving forward.

Ortom's loss in the 2023 senatorial election was met with widespread speculation, and his latest statement corroborates previous rumors that a lack of spiritual consultation played a significant role in his defeat. Many also recall that God had previously instructed Ortom not to contest in 2017, a decision he adhered to.
