Euro 2024: Palmer Reveals Why Southgate Prefers Saka, Foden Over Him

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has opened up about his position in the England squad, acknowledging why manager Gareth Southgate favors Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden over him for Euro 2024.

Despite not featuring in England's first two matches against Serbia and Denmark, Palmer made a notable appearance in the last 30 minutes of a 0-0 draw with Slovenia. This performance has sparked discussions about whether he should start in the upcoming last-16 match against Slovakia.

Palmer shared his thoughts, saying, "Personally I think I'm ready but it's not up to me. I just wait for my time and when I get on, I just try to do what I do.ÔÇØ

The 22-year-old midfielder expressed his excitement about getting the opportunity to play, even if briefly. "I was just excited to get on for 20 minutes and thought I was going to try to do something or make an impact,ÔÇØ Palmer said.

Acknowledging the stiff competition in his position, Palmer remarked, "I wouldn't say I'm impatient because I know it's my first tournament and you've got players like Saka, Foden, and Bellingham in my position, so it is understandable. But I just want to get on and try to impress when I do.ÔÇØ
