PDP Breaks Silence On Alleged Forgery Scandal Involving Sen. Anyanwu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly dismissed allegations that the signature of its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, on a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the forthcoming National Convention was forged.

Addressing the media in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, described the claim as false, mischievous, and a calculated plot to destabilize the opposition party ahead of its crucial National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15, 2025, in Ibadan.

According to Ologunagba, Senator Anyanwu was present at the 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting where the decision on the convention date and venue was unanimously approved. He noted that Certified True Copies (CTCs) from INEC confirmed Anyanwu's attendance, listing him as number four on the attendance sheet.

"Both the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and Senator Anyanwu co-signed the official letters to INEC on August 25. There is photographic and documentary evidence to prove this. It is shocking that the same person would later allege forgery 50 days after signing,ÔÇØ Ologunagba stated.

He also revealed that Anyanwu served as Secretary of the Contact and Mobilisation Sub-Committee for the convention and even prepared a budget for the group, which was forwarded to Governor Duoye Diri, the subcommittee chairman.

Ologunagba expressed disappointment that such a senior party official would suddenly disown documents he actively worked on, insisting that the claim was part of a broader attempt to derail preparations for the convention.

"It is criminal to make false allegations before security agencies. We urge the police and DSS to investigate the matter and ensure that the truth is established. If proven false, Senator Anyanwu should face the consequences,ÔÇØ he declared.

The PDP spokesman maintained that despite distractions, the party remains united and focused on hosting a transparent and successful national convention that will reposition it ahead of the 2027 general elections.

On speculations that Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri might defect to the APC, Ologunagba dismissed such rumors, stressing that the PDP remains a party of the people, not individuals.

"Winning elections is not about governors alone. It is about the people - the real strength of the PDP lies in the masses who believe in democracy and justice,ÔÇØ he added.

The PDP leadership concluded by urging members nationwide to disregard divisive reports and remain focused on rebuilding the party's structure for a stronger 2027 comeback.
