PDP Governors Allege Security Agencies Infiltrating Party

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues at the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday, warned members against falling prey to divisive tactics.

Mohammed, who chaired the PDP Governors' Forum meeting in Zamfara on Saturday, said the gathering, along with other party organs, focused on consolidating unity.

He said, "We learn from each other so that we can provide dividends of democracy away from the shenanigans pervading the political space.

"We are doing very well to ensure that we make our party the darling of Nigerians, where we have shown reticence, capacity, and unity. But I must say and warn that we have had some remote information that some of our party leaders at the state level may be penetrated by security agencies so that they can cause disaffection. So please, we must remain united.ÔÇØ

He added that, with the help of governors and elders, all outstanding congress disputes had been resolved, and communications had been duly signed with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In his remarks, the PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum, stated that the party continues to demonstrate resilience and focus despite the country's national challenges.

Damagum said, "Nigerians look up to the PDP not only as the strongest opposition party but also as the only credible alternative capable of restoring hope, equity, and justice.

"The confidence reposed in us is a reminder of the weight of responsibility we carry as a party. From one convention to the next, the PDP has consistently shown internal democracy, inclusivity and respect for collective decision-making.ÔÇØ

On the clamour for greater women's participation in politics, Damagum said the PDP fully supports the bill seeking to create reserved seats for women in the National Assembly.

"No party has empowered women more than the PDP. Women have always been the backbone of this party, mobilising, combating and defending the vote when it matters most,ÔÇØ he said.

Damagum urged party delegates to elect more women during the November national convention, stressing that inclusivity remains central to the PDP's values.
