Peter Obi Finally Reveals Those That Will Decide If Abure Will Remain LP Nat. Chairman

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has disclosed that he, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, and other relevant stakeholders will collaboratively resolve the ongoing leadership crisis within the party. Obi emphasized that the Labour Party's National Executive Council (NEC) will convene to make decisions in accordance with the party's constitution.

Speaking to reporters after addressing the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Transition Committee, headed by former NLC President Abdulawaheed Omar, Obi highlighted the importance of a united approach to resolve the leadership dispute. The NLC Transition Committee had attempted to take over the Labour Party secretariat but was denied access due to a peace meeting already in progress, led by Obi and other stakeholders.

Obi outlined the decision-making process, stating, "When we come together as a family, we will make decisions as a family. The party has a constitution and a National Executive Council, and everyone, including myself and Governor Otti, will be there to decide."

He further emphasized that the retention of LP's National Chairman, Julius Abure, would be determined collectively by the stakeholders. "We cannot say someone is at the gate and tell your wife to leave; everyone must be present before dissolving a marriage," Obi noted, illustrating the need for inclusive discussions.

Addressing the leadership challenge, Obi remarked that stakeholder involvement is crucial for resolution. He acknowledged the positive aspect of protests, stating, "The protest is good because it shows that everyone wants us to organize ourselves better. They are part of the family, and in a family, people agitate and misunderstandings are part of the living process."

Obi's statements reflect his commitment to addressing internal conflicts through dialogue and collective decision-making, reinforcing the Labour Party's democratic principles.
