Prominent PDP chieftain, Damara dumps party for APC

Prominent Nigerians businessman, Jerry Damara, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former PDP chieftain defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in one of the biggest political alignment in the state.

Damara presented his APC membership card to the state governor Muhammadu Yahaya on Thursday at the Government House Gombe.

DAILY POST reports that he defected alongside some of his supporters.

Revealing why he dumped the PDP for APC, Damara opined that his decision was motivated by the incumbent governor's developmental strides and inclusive governance style.

"Your Excellency, from today, my loyalty to you and your administration is total. The developmental train you are driving is unstoppable, and I refuse to be left behind,ÔÇØ he declared.

The Tangale-Waja politician added that after extensive consultations with elders and stakeholders, they resolved to end years of political fragmentation in Gombe South and fully embrace the ruling party.
