A stunning revelation has emerged from the aftermath of the 2025 Anambra governorship election, as Senator Uche Ekwunife, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), openly accused the party's national leadership of abandoning Anambra APC at a critical moment.

Speaking during a stakeholders' meeting in Awka to review the ongoing APC e-registration exercise, Ekwunife disclosed that the party's candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, was denied the crucial backing needed from Abuja to defeat incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

According to her, the APC in Anambra recorded unprecedented grassroots commitment, but that energy was left unsupported by the party's central command.

"If the party at the national level had given us even 20 percent push, we would have gone far,ÔÇØ Ekwunife said.

Ekwunife admitted that the election outcome was painful not because of lack of effort, but because party loyalists were left to fight alone, despite APC being the ruling party at the centre.
She described the 2025 election as the most united and determined APC Anambra had ever been, insisting that members only wanted recognition and backing from their own party.

"For the first time, APC members in Anambra were desperate to win for themselves. All they needed was to feel supported as members of the ruling party in Nigeria.ÔÇØ

Her comments have now reignited debate about internal sabotage, neglect of opposition strongholds, and the true level of commitment of the APC national leadership to state chapters outside its traditional strongholds.

Beyond the election revelations, Ekwunife urged members to take the ongoing APC e-registration seriously, warning that it is not just a formality but a database that will determine who benefits from the party's future empowerment programmes.

"Those registering are the real owners of the party. This process will determine how the party rewards loyalty,ÔÇØ she said.

In another revelation that sent murmurs through the hall, Ekwunife announced that the APC has already agreed on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its 2027 presidential candidate, pledging full support for his re-election.

She described the President and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as a leadership duo capable of keeping Nigeria stable.

Earlier, the Anambra APC Chairman, Basil Ejidike, expressed disappointment over poor participation in the e-registration process, revealing that Anambra and Abuja were the worst-performing zones nationwide.

State registration coordinator, Joe Okekeuche, disclosed that only 17,488 members had registered so far, with Njikoka, Awka South, and Onitsha South leading the chart, while Ihiala, Idemili South, and Anambra West ranked lowest.
