The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has sounded the alarm over a disturbing plot to frame and arrest their principal, Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections. This revelation comes amid claims that certain political figures are orchestrating these actions to curtail Obi's influence and advocacy for good governance.

In a detailed statement released in Abuja, POMR highlighted what it termed "wild, wicked, and baseless allegations" made by Bayo Onanuga, a presidential spokesperson. Onanuga accused Obi of being the mastermind behind a planned nationwide protest, suggesting that Obi should be held accountable for any ensuing unrest.

Dr. Tanko Yunusa, speaking on behalf of POMR, emphasized the gravity of these allegations, suggesting they are part of a broader strategy to arrest Obi, restrict his freedom, and stifle his calls for reform. According to Yunusa, "These unsubstantiated allegations are being orchestrated to limit his freedom and association and stop his propagation for good governance, which they find injurious to their lavish lifestyle."

Yunusa pointed out that Peter Obi has consistently demonstrated a non-violent approach, even in the face of severe provocation. "He has always been issue-driven and refrains from personal attacks," Yunusa noted, underscoring Obi's commitment to a peaceful and constructive political discourse.

The statement also shed light on the deployment of "multiple attack dogs" aimed at discrediting Obi and preventing him from effectively communicating with the Nigerian public. These hired operatives, Yunusa argued, are paid to spread falsehoods and distort public perception.

Further, POMR accused the current administration of attempting to scapegoat Obi for various national challenges, including the fallout from the fuel subsidy removal, rising poverty, inflation, nepotism, and unresolved historical conflicts. These issues, they assert, are a direct result of the administration's actions and inactions, not Obi's.

In response to these developments, POMR called on Nigerians to dismiss the "cheap blackmail" from the Presidency. The team reaffirmed their commitment to the "Obidient" movement, both domestically and in the diaspora, and their resolve to continue advocating for a "new Nigeria" focused on transparency, justice, and equitable governance.

As the political climate intensifies, the alleged plot against Peter Obi underscores the volatile nature of Nigerian politics and the lengths to which some are willing to go to maintain the status quo. The POMR's revelations are a call to action for vigilance and support for leaders who prioritize the nation's well-being over personal gain.
