Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has revealed why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lose the 2027 general elections, warning that Nigerians have lost faith in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aregbesola, a longtime ally turned critic of Tinubu, made the bold declaration in Ilorin, Kwara State, shortly after commissioning the ADC State Secretariat along Basin Road. Speaking to journalists, he accused the ruling party of desperation, intimidation, and growing panic - signs he described as clear indicators of an impending electoral defeat.

"If the APC is confident of its strength, it won't be so hyped and charged as to be hounding and hunting the opposition all over the place,ÔÇØ Aregbesola said. "They are harassing and intimidating our members across Nigeria - from Lagos to Kebbi, from Kaduna to Kwara. That is not the attitude of a popular party; that is the attitude of a frightened one.ÔÇØ

According to Aregbesola, the APC's overbearing posture is evidence that it is rapidly losing public confidence. He maintained that Nigerians are disillusioned by the government's inability to tackle hardship, insecurity, and unemployment - issues that have worsened under Tinubu's administration.

He further predicted that the ADC would "harvest the unpopularityÔÇØ of the APC and emerge as a strong alternative platform in the next general election.

"Regardless of their grandstanding, by the grace of God, the ADC will take over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria and in most of the states,ÔÇØ he declared.

Aregbesola also took a swipe at politicians defecting to the APC, calling them enemies of the people who are driven by self-interest rather than service.

In a similar vein, former Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, who recently joined the ADC after dumping the PDP, expressed confidence that the ADC is now the political home for all Nigerians seeking real change.
