'You Can't Point To Sustaining Legacy From Your Govt, So You Can't Understand Importance Of Saint Lucia Trip' - Tinubu's Aide Blasts Peter Obi

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Digital Engagement, Strategy, and New Media, Otega Ogra, has slammed the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, over his comment about the President's trip to Saint Lucia.

All Facts News recalls that Peter Obi recently criticised Tinubu's trip to Saint Lucia and Brazil for the BRICS summit.

The former Governor described the trip as a grave misstep at a time when Nigerians face deep economic deprivation and widespread insecurity.

In a post via ­ØòÅ on Saturday, Obi wrote that Tinubu's travel arrangements reveal a misplaced agenda prioritising political optics over citizens' urgent needs.

Part of the statement read, "This is a President going for leisure when he couldn't visit Minna, Niger State where over two hundred were lost and over 700 persons still missing in a flood natural disaster.

"I didn't want to believe that anybody in the position of authority... would contemplate a leisure trip at this time."

Reacting to criticism, Ogra, in a post via ­ØòÅ on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, stated that Peter Obi failed to plan for the future of Anambra State during his eight-year tenure.

The presidential aide said Peter Obi cannot point to a lasting legacy from his administration in Anambra and will not understand the importance of Tinubu's trip.

Ogra added that the President's trip to the Caribbean country is an effort to place Nigeria where it needs to be.

He wrote, "Someone who failed to plan for Anambra's future and can't point to a sustaining legacy from his administration can certainly not understand the importance of this trip by his President to the Caribbean. To him, it is a 'holiday'. To those in the know of geopolitics and where Nigeria needs to be and how it can get there quickly, it is a masterstroke."
