Senator assures Akwa Ibom indigenes of quality representation
Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Akpan has assured indigenes of the state of quality representation in the National Assembly in 2022.

Akpan gave this assurance when he recently hosted Akwa Ibom indigenes resident in Lagos.

Akpan, who is the Leader, Akwa Ibom State Caucus of the National Assembly, said despite the challenges of 2021, several important issues, which directly affected his state and indigenes, were successfully tackled at the National Assembly.

He said: "The records of my achievements in the National Assembly, especially in the area of upstream oil sector, are there for everyone to see. There is more work to be done. I assure the good people of Akwa Ibom State that I will continue to provide quality representation and leadership for them this year in the National Assembly."

On the contentious Electoral Bill, which President Muhammadu Buhari has refused to assent, Senator Akpan said he would align with the decision of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators to veto the decision of the president.

"My position on the Electoral Bill, which the president has refused to give assent is in line with my party's position. We have made our position known to Nigerians that what the president has done is not acceptable to us. When the Senate resume we will maintain of position," he said.

Akwa Ibom indigenes resident in Lagos, who attended the party, were treated to sumptuous meals and went home with several gift items.
