Why You Should Allow Old, New Naira Notes Coexist - APC Govs Tells Buhari | READ IN FULL
Seven days to the deadline for the use of 200, 500 and 1000 old naira notes in Nigeria, governors elected on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have met with President Muhammadu Buhari, appealing that he should allow the old and new naira notes co-exist.

Speaking to journalists, Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai said they (the governors) made the plea to the president on Friday, informing him that allowing the old and new notes coexist, would ease the sufferings of majority of Nigerians who are currently finding it difficult to buy and sell.

He noted that the N300billion new notes the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) printed was not enough as against over N2 trillion of the old notes it mopped up.
He argued that if the CBN was bent on a cashless policy, it should have printed half of what it mopped for a start.

Others who are meeting with the president include; Chairman of the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF), Atiku Bagudu, Kano state governor, Umar Ganduje, and others.
