Wike Fires Back at Odili During Thanksgiving Service: "I Rescued Him in 2015, He Did Nothing in 8 | READ FULL BLAST

Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized his predecessor, Peter Odili, accusing him of political hypocrisy and ingratitude. Wike made the remarks during a thanksgiving service organized by Martins Amaechi, the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Wike accused Odili of failing to achieve significant milestones during his eight-year tenure as Rivers State Governor and claimed credit for revitalizing Odili's political relevance when he became Governor in 2015.

Speaking at the event, Wike said, "In 2007, when Odili left office, he was politically isolated because Amaechi was governor. He couldn't come near power. When I became governor in 2015, I brought him back to relevance. Without me, there would be no PAMO University today. I ensured Rivers State indigenes secured 100 slots at PAMO annually, paying over N5 million each for seven years.

"I even called Julius Berger to build a mansion for him. He invited people from across Nigeria to thank me for what I did. Now he is saying something else? What did he achieve in his eight years?ÔÇØ

Wike criticized Odili's recent praise for the current Rivers State Governor, labeling it inconsistent. "When I was governor, he said I had surpassed all my predecessors, including himself. Now, he claims the new governor has outperformed everyone within one year. This is not elder statesman behavior,ÔÇØ Wike remarked.

He further accused Odili of leveraging his influence to benefit his family. "His wife is the Chairman of the Governing Council, his daughter is a Commissioner, his other daughter is a Judge, and he himself is the General Overseer. Who is treating the state as a 'personal estate' now?ÔÇØ

Wike alleged that Odili lacked the resolve to pursue higher political ambitions, saying, "He wanted to run for President but lacked the courage. He chickened out, blaming former President Obasanjo. Because of him, I avoided inviting Obasanjo to Rivers State during my tenure to prevent humiliation.ÔÇØ

Wike advised Odili to steer clear of meddling in governance and focus on his own legacy. "I am in Abuja, managing my responsibilities. Whatever envy or grievances he has won't change my position or accomplishments,ÔÇØ he declared.

Wike's fiery comments have further intensified the rivalry between the two political figures, shedding light on the complexities of Rivers State's political dynamics.
