Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has finally declared his ambition to become Nigeria's President in 2023.

Amaechi made the declaration at an ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) event in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The former Rivers Governor said he would seek the party's ticket to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

"I stand before you today to declare my intention and submit my application to serve as your next PresidentÔÇØ, he announced.

In attendance are top APC chieftains, including ex- national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Gbemi Saraki, Senator Ali Ndume, Victor Giadom, Salihu Mustapha.

Amaechi said his reason for running for the office of the president is not to fulfill his personal ambition.

Amaechi said his aspiration was borne out of his belief that it is his "modest duty to give what I can in the service of my countryÔÇØ.

He made the assertion when he declared his intention to join in the presidential race in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

The minister said, "My aspiration is not about fulfilling any personal ambition, I am contesting for the office because I believe it is my modest duty to give what I can in the service of my country.ÔÇØ

The minister noted that the country requires a leadership that is equipped with experience in governance if the current effort at solving Nigeria's problems must be sustained.
