2027: We're not adopting zoning in Oyo State - ADC

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Oyo State, has said it is not interested in zoning its governorship position.

The party's state Publicity Secretary, Mr Bimpe Adelowo disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Ibadan.

Adelowo said the party would be fair to its governorship aspirants to enable the best candidate emerge.

"Our party is looking at merit, the best and not on this frivolous, sentimental agenda of zoning.

"We want the best for Oyo State, for Nigeria, and for every sector of Nigeria, so, wherever the best can come from, that is our focus,ÔÇØ he said.

Adelowo said that zoning the governorship position to Oke-Ogun would not serve a good purpose if the person that emerged from that zone could not deliver good governance.

He said the party wants someone who will implement party manifestos, policies and programmes and also deliver dividend of democracy to residents .

He commended residents for their endurance in spite of challenges under the Governor Seyi Makinde PDP-led government.

"You can see what happened on the issue of circular roads in the state. That alone is enough to throw Oyo State into chaos but the people still showed resilience and love for society.

"They didn't want any violence, their protest was peaceful. No wanton destruction of any property, ÔÇØhe said.

He urged the people of the state to be hopeful and contribute to the process of electing ADC candidates in all positions in the state to represent them in 2027.
