In what party insiders are already describing as the boldest and most controversial purge in its 26-year history, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday expelled former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, ex-Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose, former National Secretary Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, senior lawyer Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), influential party chieftain Austin Nwachukwu, and several others during its heated 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The decision, ratified by an overwhelming majority of accredited delegates, followed hours of closed-door meetings where party elders reportedly insisted that the PDP could no longer "tolerate sabotage disguised as loyalty.ÔÇØ

Although the official statement simply referenced "anti-party activitiesÔÇØ, top PDP sources told All Facts Newspaper that the expulsion was the culmination of months of investigations, petitions, and complaints from state chapters, alleging that the affected politicians were working against the party's interest in the 2023 and 2024 election cycles.

According to insiders at the Ibadan Convention:
The party has been battling crippling internal sabotage since 2023.

Several expelled leaders were accused of publicly undermining PDP candidates during elections.

Some were alleged to have maintained alliances with rival political blocs, especially within the ruling APC.

The PDP leadership believes the party cannot survive 2027 with what they called "a divided house led by habitual betrayers.ÔÇØ

The convention reportedly resolved that "anyone standing in the way of party unity ahead of 2027 must go.ÔÇØ

Delegates who spoke with All Facts Newspaper described the move as a "necessary cleansingÔÇØ and insisted that the party must reposition immediately to avoid another disastrous outing in 2027.

As the news spread across the convention grounds, supporters of the expelled members reportedly attempted to protest but were overwhelmed by the majority voice of the delegates.
