ISUIKWUATO: ICF Takes Agricultural Revolution To The Next Level, Distributes High Yielding Crops, Gov. Otti Endorses Project

For a while now, Federal and Abia State Governments have been talking about Agricultural Revolution, but on Friday 5th April 2024 that catch phrase was practicalized in Isuikwuato during the Flag of the 2024 planting Season championed by Isuikwuato Consultative Forum (ICF) in collaboration with Isuikwuato Development Union (IDU) and the Mayor of Isuikwuato Local Government Area.

The event which held at the Isuikwuato Development Union (IDU) national secretariat (Ndubuisi Kanu Square) in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, saw the crème de la crème of Isuikwuato present, the Governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR, the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi at the federal House of representative Hon. Chief Amobi Ogah, the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly Hon. Chief Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, the Mayor of Isuikwuato Local Government Area AVM Chiwendu Onyeike Rtd were all present with numerous others.

During the opening speech at the event, the Leader of Isuikwuato Consultative Forum (ICF) Chief Ray Nkemdirim "Ugwumba Isuikwuato", narrated how the idea of ICF came about, the aims and objectives of ICF and the benefits behind the agricultural revolution agenda.

He revealed the commitment of prominent Isuikwuato Sons and Daughters both at home and in the diaspora in seeing that the negative narratives is changed in Isuikwuato. He also posited that the ICF plans to equally intervene in many other sectors, but urged farmers to take this agricultural revolution serious as that will motivate people to do more.

While contributing, the President General of IDU Chief Osondu Onyedimara emphasized on the importance of the Agricultural revolution programme. He stated that the programme will provide Food Security, Create jobs , reduce Crime and also improve on the Economy of the people.

The Member Representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi at the federal House of representative Honorable Chief Amobi Ogah, stated that the ICF Agricultural Revolution plan tallies with his agricultural agenda for the people. He gave insight into his supports toward agriculture like the grading of access road to Ulonna Farm Settlement, scholarship he provided for 66 students who intend to study Agriculture in higher institution and numerous other supports.

Ogah explained that the only way Nigeria can escape from its economic woes is if it embraces agriculture and production. He supported the project with Five Million Naira which he made available immediately.

While speaking, the chairman of the event former Chief of Army staff Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika Rtd, appreciated Ray Nkemdirim for the ICF idea and numerous other people who have shown commitment towards Isuikwuato progress.

He revealed that they are two things which are not affected by politics, one of them is hunger and the other insecurity. The former CoAS posited that when one is faced with any insecurity or threat to life he or she does not remember politics and that also includes hunger.

He appreciated the coming together of the Isuikwuato people to solve the problem of hunger across party lines.

"I am of the APC, Amobi is Labour, Lucky is PDP .. this is the new Abia we are talking about; elections are over, we are now in leadership" he posited.

He equally donated extra One Million Naira towards the project.

The House of Assembly member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency Honorable Chief Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, while contributing concentrated on the need for commitment from all beneficiaries. He equally tasked himself that he will be producing the biggest yam in Isuikwuato during this planting season.

While reacting, the representative of the Governor Dr. Clifford C. Agbaeze (Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture), assured the people of Isuikwuato of State Government support towards the project.

He revealed that ICF and all her partners have keyed into the New Abia agenda and that state government will be glad to support.

"The focus should be Agriculture as business and ICF has taken the right step heading towards the right direction"

"You can count on the support of Abia State Government, because we need to unlock the potential of Isuikwuato people" he concluded.

The Governor, Honorable Ogah and others carried out symbolic planting to kick off the project.
