NWC Members kicks As Adamu Announces Lawan As APC Consensus Candidate

Crisis had erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the announcement of Senate President Ahmed Lawan as consensus presidential aspirant by the national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Abdullahi Adamu made the announcement at the meeting of National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday in Abuja.

However, other aspirants including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Dr. Kayode Fayemi and David Umahi, among others will be allowed to contest the primary at the convention holding tomorrow at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
The NWC members insisted other aspirants must be given a level playing ground to compete, noting that it is the fairest thing to do.

Adamu's adoption of Lawan as consensus candidate is against the position of 11 APC northern Governors, who endorsed that power must shift to the South after President Muhammadu Buhari's tenure.

Adamu told the National Working Committee that he arrived at the choice of Lawan after consultation with President Buhari.

Revolting the stance of the National Chairman, the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Suleiman Argungu confirmed that is a personal opinion of the National chairman not general agreement of the NWC.
He made this known in a briefing with journalists after their NWC meeting.

He said "As you can see, we are coming out from the NWC meeting and we have been briefed by the national chairman, Distinguished Senator Adamu Abdullahi that the Senate President Ahmad Lawan is our consensus candidate of the APC National convention and that is the information he gave us and that has not been discussed by the NWC.

Whether they rejected the decision of the national chairman, Sulieman said it was not discussed on the floor of the NWC but an information given to them, " all of us are entitled to our own opinion, we are democrats. This decision was never taken by the NWC but an information given to the NWC, he said.

This is coming after the President had said he "Had Anointed No one" and " There shall Be No Imposition.
