The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally declared an end to years of internal discord, unveiling what it described as a "New Era of UnityÔÇØ following a decisive intervention by the party's Board of Trustees (BOT).

At a crucial meeting of the BOT, the party's highest advisory organ and moral compass, leaders unanimously resolved that the era of infighting must give way to peace, reconciliation, and collective rebuilding, as the PDP intensifies efforts to reposition itself as a credible national alternative.

Speaking at the meeting, BOT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, charged party leaders, members, and supporters across the federation to rally behind the newly elected National Working Committee (NWC), describing unity as the PDP's most urgent priority.

Senator Wabara commended the successful conduct of the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, describing it as a clear demonstration of the party's commitment to internal democracy and transparency, despite recent challenges.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Wabara declared the BOT's unalloyed support for the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN-led National Working Committee, noting that early signals from the new leadership point to renewed confidence and structural strengthening across the party.

"From the early days of their tenure, it appears that our party is being repositioned, structures are being strengthened, and confidence is being restored across the federation,ÔÇØ Wabara stated, adding that the developments offer renewed hope to millions of Nigerians who still view the PDP as a viable alternative.

However, even as the party celebrates early gains under the new leadership, the BOT emphasized that unity and reconciliation must remain central, urging aggrieved members to embrace dialogue, healing, and forgiveness for the collective good of the party.

Responding on behalf of the new NWC, PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, expressed deep appreciation to the BOT for its support and guidance, as well as for its active participation in the November 15-16, 2025 National Convention.

Turaki admitted that the party had endured turbulent times marked by internal battles and external pressures, but insisted that the moment for peace had arrived.
"We have had a lot of ups and downs. We fought ourselves and we fought each other. Now, it is time for peace,ÔÇØ Turaki declared, stressing that reconciliation would be a cardinal principle of his administration.

The PDP Chairman urged all party members, stakeholders, and support groups to align with the new direction, assuring that no dispute is beyond resolution where there is shared purpose and collective will.

The high-level meeting was attended by prominent BOT members, including former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana; former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Makarfi; and former Enugu State Governor, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, among others.

The resolutions mark what party leaders describe as a defining turning point in the PDP's journey toward rebuilding trust, unity, and electoral competitiveness nationwide.
