'PDP Defeat Shows Voters' Dissatisfaction'

All Facts Newspaper reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Kamilu Sa'idu of the APC winner with 8,182 votes, defeating PDP's Muhammad Lawal Kurya, who polled 5,544 votes.

The election, conducted in Sakajiki and Kyambarawa polling units, was a rerun after the initial poll was declared inconclusive.

Reacting in a statement on Wednesday, spokesperson of the APC Youth Congress, Comrade Gambo Danladi, dismissed PDP's allegations of electoral malpractice and military interference, insisting that the result was a direct reflection of the governor's poor performance.

"Governor Lawal has failed to fulfill his campaign promises on security, development and economic progress. The bye-election result showed the dissatisfaction of voters, and it is the first time a sitting governor in Zamfara will lose a bye-election under his watch," Danladi said.

The APC youths maintained that the PDP's defeat was self-inflicted, urging the ruling party in Zamfara to accept responsibility rather than blame external factors.

They congratulated APC's candidate, Kamilu Sa'idu, on his victory, describing it as a pointer to the people's growing confidence in the opposition party.

"We urge the PDP to stop the excuses and face the reality that the people are unhappy with their government," Danladi added.
