Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy, has dismissed all his past criticisms of the president, describing them as "irrelevant."

Bwala, who previously served as a spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, stated that his attacks on Tinubu and his administration were simply part of his role as an opposition figure.

Speaking on Arise TV's Morning Show on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Bwala justified his shift in stance, arguing that opposition politicians naturally criticize the ruling party.

It would be recalled that during the 2023 presidential election, Bwala left the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the party fielded a Muslim-Muslim ticket-Tinubu and Kashim Shettima-as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

He later joined the PDP and became one of the fiercest critics of Tinubu's candidacy, at one point describing his potential election as "a night of a thousand laughs.ÔÇØ

Following Tinubu's emergence as Nigeria's president, Daniel Bwala went further to delegitimize the new administration, referring to it as a "president-selectÔÇØ and accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of manipulating the election results.

However, in a surprising turnaround, Bwala now serves as a presidential aide and has renounced all his previous statements against Tinubu.

"The opposition's work is to criticize the sitting government and hold them accountable. My views changed after I met the president, and he saw a need to appoint me,ÔÇØ Bwala stated during the interview.
